Looking good Mick, lot of hard work in the joinery getting the right widths, and angles etc, looks good and certainly in better condition than it was originally. Will you be taking it home when it has to depart its present location?

Certainly been a lot of work on that side alone, I have the other side, the front the back and the roof to go yet Got the side back on today, all seems ok but let myself down, one bit was 2mm out, had to run a drill through the panels to line them up  Managed to get alternative storage for it today only 100yards away from where it is now...they just need to find the key :?

Hi Mick, looking good, glad to hear you have a new bit to use for storage, hopefully they find the key, if not then a battering ram lol!
Side is looking good and hopefully having done one the rest will be easier. 2mm out isn't bad considering the amount of work you have done, and under pressure to get it moved as well.
Had a busy weekend so far updating all the images on the Out and About album and sorting through all the pages to make them all uniform, was a bit of a mess so hopefully from now on I will keep them tidier, lol. Just got to go through the rest of the site now and start adding more info. Got some new stuff in magazines I purchased from EBay, hopefully some good info in them.
Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing the finished van later in the year!

Looks like its all move again... the alternative storage didnt come off as planned so found a second alternative to keep it in at work.... 2 weeks later I got a phone call asking why it was there and I had to move it I havent yet but will have to soon its in a building thats getting closed down so it may well end up at my house, I have the space but dont want it sat outside again.. Im without a towcar at the moment too which makes things a bit more awkward for moving it ;D

Not so good Mick, nothing worse than having to store outside when renovating, however many do and it just means extra work covering up with tarps at the end of each stint, not ideal. Shame you cannot persuade work to let you rent the building you have it in now, after all it will probably stand empty for years before they sell it off or do something else with it. Having lived near Kirknewton I know how slowly these wheels turn, even now there are still empty hangers there that are on occasion used by rally teams who use the old airfield as a circuit once or twice a year. Hopefully you will find somewhere secure soon!
What happened to the tow-car? Hope you get one sorted soon!

Not ideal being outside no, will try to find a means of keeping it dry. Youre right the camp will be empty and fall into disrepair The towcar was a Discovery but was an everyday car and 25mpg wasnt enough. Now in a way thats good thing because it has meant the '66 Landy rebuild has taken off as I will need a towcar again, currently have to borrow a Volvo estate when I need to move anything...

Greedy things those disco's, and not a patch on the Landy's in my opinion, and many others I have spoken with, Hope the 66 rebuild goes well, the van will look great behind that and more reminiscent of the original towing vehicles that many folks used back in the day. Hope you get it up and running soon.
I had a couple of Volvo estates 20 odd years ago and they where brilliant in all weathers, hardly noticed when you where towing that there was anything behind you, wifey not so keen on them as she couldn't reach the pedals even with the seat right forward, an advantage I thought as it meant I was the only one that drove it, LOL! Ended up with a Cortina MK5, not as good in the winter months but not as expensive to run either.
One of the Volvo 244Dl's I had was converted to run on gas, mileage remained about the same but at 50p a gallon in the 80's it certainly made a big difference over the £2 a gallon for petrol.
The towcar was a Discovery but was an everyday car and 25mpg wasn't enough. Now in a way thats good thing because it has meant the '66 Landy rebuild has taken off as I will need a towcar again, currently have to borrow a Volvo estate when I need to move anything...

The time came that I had to move it. Towed back well, even though all the back roads were uneven and bumpy. It didnt fall apart, didnt blow a tyre just behaved all the way back to mine ;D Its parked up on the drive next to the old Safari much to Emmas dismay

You certainly have done a lot of work on this van, hopefully it will get completed and give many great weekends.
